T-shirt Quilt

I already had the tshirt squares cut out when I started piecing this quilt this morning.  This is a University of Montevallo tshirt quilt that I am donating to the UM Student Athlete Advisory Committee.  The SAAC is going to put the quilt in a silent auction to benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation.
 I finished piecing it tonight.

Stars and Strips

How to...

...Make a triangle edging for a quilt.

Start with a 5" x 5" square of fabric.

Fold the square in half to match corner to corner.  You now have a larger triangle then the bottom finished triangle in the picture.
Take the folded over square that now looks like a triangle and fold it in half again, so that it makes a smaller triangle.  Making sure the 4 edges at the bottom of the triangle are lined up and then sew a line to close the edges up.
Ready to start the triangle edging.

American Flag Quilt

Cutting fabric for three different quilts.
laying out the quilt design for piecing.
These squares of fabric will become the triangle edging of the quilt.
The quilt without the triangle border.  Probably won't get the border put on until Thursday or Friday.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

With only lights...
 Lights and Ornaments...
Star and skirt complete the tree!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble Gobble...

Turkey prep was done on Wednesday.  Brian injected it with a creole butter seasoning and then dry rubbed it.
On Thursday afternoon we took the turkey over to one of my Kingwood athlete's parent's house for frying.  It tasted really good!

Pies, Pies, and more Pie!

I've fixed the blog for the time being, but I'm still working on changing the look of it.  Brian and I baked the Thanksgiving pies on Wednesday morning.  We had two pecan pies and two different pumpkin pies.  The hazelnut pumpkin pie was our favorite out of the two pumkin pies.

Sad and Exciting News...

I have some sad and exciting news.  The sad news is as I was trying to post pre-Thanksgiving cooking pictures and the blog told me it was full and could not take anymore pictures.  As I tried to fix this problem I messed up a couple settings and can't figure out how to fix it (as you can tell by the change in appearance).  The exciting news is I am going to create a new blog (it will really be a contination of this blog).  Watch for the new blog address to come up soon (hopefully today since I have a lot of pictures to post).

Christmas Comes Early

Brian and I decided to do practical purchases for Christmas this year.  He needed a new computer and the old dryer was on the fritz and wasn't heating very well anymore.   Brian hasn't opened his computer yet but I have done many loads of laundry and I ABSOLUTELY love the dryer.  I can't wait to get the washer and play with the setting on it.

Little Miss Susie Homemaker

As soon as I finished the baby blanket I blew the dust off of another project that has been sitting on a shelf for years.  They are embroidery quilt blocks.  I need 12 total to complete a full/queen size quilt and I have only 5 left to go.  I work on these during basketball practice and on my down time at the house.  I have become known as susie homemaker at the school.
