As I was getting on Interstate 65 today I noticed a U Haul trailer in front of me and I thought I saw Hannibal, MO on the side. When I pulled up next to it I saw that it really was Hannibal, MO on the side. I thought it was neat to see a location from home on the side of a U Haul so far from home. The picture on the side of the truck is for the Tom Sawyer Days frog jumping contest that is held during the 4th of July holiday.

Christmas Movies at The Alabama Theater
Friday night we went to the Alabama Theater to see Elf and Saturday we saw Frosty the Snowman, Ruldoph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Charlie Brown's Christmas, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
The Alabama Theater is beautiful and has been restored to its original glory.
These were the Cousin Eddie's that dressed up for the movie.
This is the downtown Regions building after the movie.
Tis the Season for Giving
While out picking up a couple of last minute things for cooking tomorrow, we came across a blood mobile. Brian has always given blood when he is able, and recommends everyone give if they are able as it really helps a lot of people. Brian said that he put the bloodmobile over their projection today. My bookworm says, that:
- Every 2 seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood
- More than 41,000 blood donations are needed everyday
- One persons donation can help up to three people
- Only 38% of the population is eligible to donate blood, and only 10% will actually
- The average donation removes a pint of blood, which is replaced by the body in approximately 5 days
- The number 1 reason people give blood is because they want to help others
- You can donate blood once every 56 days
- On average:
- A hip replacement can use up to one unit of blood
- Cardiac bypass can use up to two unit of blood
- Heart transplant can use up to two units of blood
- Liver transplant can use up to two units of blood
Gus went with us to do our shopping today.
Funny Cartoon
I saw this in the Sunday paper last weekend and had to cut it out for Brian. I laid it on this computer last night and he laughed when he saw it. I'm a lot like John in the fact that I love everything Christmas starting right before Thanksgiving and Brian is a lot like Garfield in the fact that he doesn't want to listen or see anything Christmas until right before Christmas.

A Vet Visit
This little turkey (more like cornish hen) weighed in today at the vet at 7.1 lbs. This is the exact same weight he was last year in January. We went to the vet today for his annual exam. He did good and got a great bill of health. He is now home doing what dogs and cats do best...lounging lazily on the couch.
This is the spot that the cat has chosen for the duration of the afternoon.
