Spring Tulips

I found this in one of the rose beds last weekend as I was weeding flower beds.  It's the only one so far but I have hope that the others won't be to far behind.

Montevallo Baseball Jersey Quilt Completed

I finished the montevallo baseball jersey quilt.  It turned out great and I learned something new things this time, as I have never worked with jerseys before.  You can't see it but my binding (edging) skills are getting better and this might be the best binding job I have done thus far.  I turned this quilt over to it's owner today and she thought it was great.  The quilt is a 21st  birthday gift to her son (the jersey's are his from when he was growing up).  I'm already pinning the next project to start the quilting.  You might remember this one from a previous post.  This is the blue and white irish chain

An Unexpected Visit to the Vet

Thrusday night we noticed that Gus wasn't quite himself.  By Monday night he hadn't changed much and looked like he felt uncomfortable so Tuesday morning we headed for the vet.  After telling the vet the history of the last few days and two x-rays later the vet decided he was going to admit Gus for the day and try to flush his system out.  To better explain, Gus had gotten stopped up and needed help getting his bowels moving again.  Brain took this video of Gus after they got home from the vet's office.

Quiet and Quaint

Things in our household have been quiet for the most part.  The only activity around the neighborhood was a house robbery the first week of this month (which has peaked our interest of putting in a DIY camara security system here at the house).  The animals are doing well and Brian has been behaving him self (shortly after Christmas I had problems with him wandering off into the toy sections of the stores we went into and couldn't find him.  I told him I was going to buy one of those curly extendable leashes that mother's put on their kids.).   As for the quilt I last posted, I am still working on the quitling but I'm about halfway done now.  The picture above is for dinner tonight.  It's roast with potatoes, carrots, and a small bit of onion (because Brain doesn't like onion).  Well thats all for now!

Changing of the Guard

I am late at putting this video up but I can't put videos up at the house.  This is the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Chritmas for Gus

I meant to upload this a lot sooner but the internet at the house won't let me put up videos and therefore I had to want until I was at the office.

Quilter Needed to Make Suprise Birthday Present

I have been hired to make a baseball t-shirt quilt for a 21st birthday gift.  To my knowledge the person I am making this for is keeping it a suprise from the birthday boy.

Before Piecing.
Center sewn together.

Piecing complete.

Split Pea Soup

Brian has been wanting split pea soup, so here it is.
Ingredients needed:
Ham bone with some ham left on it.
Split Peas (the number of bags depands on how much soup you want)
Carrots diced or sliced up (lots of carrots needed)

Boil the bone with the ham on for 1.5-2 hours and then take the bone out and cut any meat of that did not fall off.  Skim the fat off the top.
Add the cut off ham and peas to the pot let the peas cook down until tender and then mash.
Once the Peas at to a mashed consistency add the diced/sliced carrots and let cook until carrots are fork tender.  I had more peas than I realized and had to break it into two pots.
Enjoy!

Breakfast for the New Year

Breakfast for the New Year was monkey bread.  This is a recipie that Brian's Mom has made as a Christmas morning tradition for years.  It is very good!

Picking up the Dog

Upon our return home last week Gus was very excited to be picked up from boarding.
