A Day At The Henry Ford Museum

This weekend Brian was on the road in Tallahassee, FL with Softball and Saturday Jenn (me) had a cheer-leading meet to cover at the high school, but on Sunday I spent the day at the Henry Ford Museum exploring.  It was a great place to go on a cold sunny day to get out of the house and stretch my legs.

This is the plane that first flew over the North Pole.
This is an early train (kinda like a taxi), that took people between near by towns.  The carriages are open air carriages.

One of the open air carriages.

A section of the Museum that showcases math and probability.

When I came home Sunday afternoon there were 2 deer in the yard eating in section of grass where the snow had melted.  They didn't run off and when I brought Gus out to go potty he didn't like them in his yard and chased them off.

Snow Pictures From The Snow Storm Last Weekend

I think we got a total of between 10-14 inches of snow with freezing rain on Sunday.  School and the basketball games at my school were cancelled for Friday night.

Preparing For The Snow Storm

As I sit here at the house on Thursday night, February 8th I am looking at the radar to see what all the hype is about.  There has been quite a stir the last couple days about this impending snow storm that is arriving in the early am hours.  We are slated to get better than 10 inches and I don't think I have seen or heard the Michiganders more stirred up about a snow storm in my 3 years of living here.  They all say it's going to be bad.  Most all the schools around are closed for tomorrow and it was announced before 7:00 pm tonight.  I did go to the grocery store tonight for a few minor items (none of which were milk, bread, or eggs).  My hope for tomorrow night is that the school decides to cancel my boys basketball games that are at home tomorrow night.  I will, however have to make the usually 5 minute trip up the road to work in clinic until 1:00 pm, but I will make sure I allow for extra time to get there.
I will be sure to post pictures of what snow we get.

Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat Basketball Game

Brian met up with one of his good friends, Wes, who is one of the athletic trainers with the Miami Heat while they were in town to play the Detroit Pistons.  Brian grabbed breakfast in the morning at the team hotel caught up with Wes.  Wes was able to get Brian and I tickets for he game later in the evening, and post game tickets to see Wes afterwords.  The Detroit Pistons are playing there first season at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit.  The Detroit Pistons previously played in The Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, MI which is about 45 mins outside of downtown Detroit.  Detroit Red Wings played in downtown Detroit on the water front in Joe Louis Arena.

Little Caesars Arena is the home for the Detroit Red Wings (NHL) as well as the Detroit Pistons (NBA).  The concourse has different statues of Detroit Red Wings and Pistons players, and sports themed pictures and trophies for both organizations over the years.  The Arena just opened this fall.
