Lots Of Happenings In and Around the House

We have been bad about posting over the last couple months, as things have been slow with the change over from winter into spring.

Brian has been busy in the thick of softball season.  This is a picture that Jenn took of the Pups and her one weekend Brian was away and we were sending him a picture.  It is hard to get a good picture with all of us looking at the camera at the same time.

Thought I would try a different angle and get better luck, but nope!

With the warm-up of Spring we have been able to take our coffee and treats on the screened porch.

I've been making hats of various sizes.

The pups taking their usual afternoon nap.

Hey Mom, where's the ball?

Hey Mom, where are the treats?

Finally a good picture!

Finished a quilt for Matt Orton.

Matt's 2 cats approve of the quilt!

The Rainbow after the rain!

Vegetable Garden planting has begun!  The collards, kale, bok choy, and lettuce seeds went in and in the process I found this unwelcome guest right outside the garden fence.  I warned her (Brian said it must have been a female), that she was fine as long as she stayed where she was, but unfortunately she decided to join me in the garden with head raised and hissing...so it may or may not have been an accident when I dropped a 40 pound bad of manure on her.

Lots of dietary changes in our house lately!  We are eating more lean proteins, plant based options, lower carb, sugar free, and just overall more healthy!  These cauliflower thins are a great replacement for sandwich bread and taste fantastic!

The snowy morning drive to work in Mid-April!

Saturday, April 17th was Opening Day at Greenfield Village.  Sheena, Kiara, and Jenn went to the village for the afternoon!  There were 5 baby lambs born the days leading up to Opening Day!  We got to see one of them learning to eat.  Some of the pictures below aren't mine, but they are of some of the houses we saw.

This weekend (May 23rd & 24th), has been an interesting one at the house. Friday night the septic system decided to back up into the house at 11:30pm.  Brian was asleep in bed when Jenn found the tub backing up a little upstairs and the laundry room was covered in a shower of water from the piping overhead.  The Michigan rodding service tech came out Saturday afternoon, and Jenn learned that all the water that comes into the house is routed back out through the septic.  Luckily most of the water that was used that night prior to the back up was 2 loads of laundry and a shower, so what did back up in the house wasn't as bad as it could have been.  When the tech finished he explained that the septic line to the house isn't in great shape (the company has been out 11 times since 2007 to do the same thing to the line), due to past root damage and he found 2 obstructions/clogs in the line, which he was able to push through.  All is well now and we are back to using water and flushing toilets!

Coming up for May!

Brian's softball season takes him to Penn State for April 30th-May 2nd.

May 7th-9th Softball goes to Minnesota.
Final Weekend of regular season play takes them to Rutgers University May 14-16th.

NCAA Playoff 1st round will start the Weekend of May 21-23.  Due to COVID the NCAA is assigning first round locations ahead of knowing who will make the tournament and therefore we will find out this week if Michigan will be a host for the 1st round.

Jenn has a trip planned home to Missouri the last week of May.  While there we are going to take a family trip to Branson Missouri and Silver Dollar City.

Our summer calendar is starting to fill up with camping adventures, day trips to baseball games, and Greenfield Village events like Motor Muster over Father's Day Weekend!
