Nashville Rock N Roll 1/2 Marathon

Music City Center was where registration was and part of the race route.  Beautiful Building inside and out.

 At Registration.
We walked by the Ryman Auditorium after registration.
Race morning Brian caught me getting ready.
 Ready to race!
The huge crowd of people ahead was the race.  I think there were 30,000 or more runners in the race this weekend.
Coral 33 is where I started.
The sea of people ahead of me in line.
 The start line is ahead!
There was a lot to look at and listen to as we ran.  The inflatable ahead was a rockstar with a guitar.
A view of the city.  It was a beautiful day for the race.
This is a pre and post race shot!
A snap shot of the whole 13.1.
This is my ran keeper screen (the app on my phone that I use to track my runs).
On the way home Saturday night we saw two hot air balloons.  The little dark dot between the trees is the best I could get of it.
Sunday morning I checked for my official race time and here it is.  My race finisher picture should be up soon.
My finisher certificate.

Good Deed Done

I forgot to post this last week.  On Thursday night we were taking Gus for a walk around 9pm when a big dog came running across the neighbors driveways.  I was a little scared for a moment because when you see a full grown German Shepherd coming at you at full speed and your not sure of the dog's temperament you get a little nervous.  Fortunately for us when Brian told it to sit, it rolled on it's belly.  It had a collar, was well behaved, and was  friendly, so it obviously belonged to someone.  The collar had a rabies tag but no owner tag so we walked to the one house in our neighborhood we thought he belonged to and it wasn't his home.  We tried leaving him in our back yard, so I could drop him at the vet in the morning and he started barking (and we were worried he would dig up the backyard).  We decided to call the emergency vet clinic about 15 minutes up the road and they said they would take him.  Brian called up on Saturday morning and the lady said he had been picked up.

He Has Risen!!

Matthew 28

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Happy Easter!

Random Act of Kindness

Brian and I experienced a random act of kindness on Thursday morning.  We were working the NCAA Gymnastics Championships on Thursday and decided to go downtown early for breakfast at a coffee shop called Red Cat.  When we started to order we weren't sure on what to get so we let the lady behind us go ahead.  She ordered and then grabbed my arm and linked her arm into mine and said "I've got both of yours, order what you want."  After telling her she didn't have to do that and then asking her if she was sure she said, "Yes and I'll tell you why in a minute."  Once we ordered and she paid she gave us this card and told us that it is a random act of kindess and she was passing it on to us to pass onto someone else.  It truly makes me happy to know that there are still random acts of kindness.  After we finished out breakfast we made one last stop my the lady's table to Thank her one last time.  We haven't passed it on yet, but we will!

Substitute Teaching

I did my third day of substitute teaching today at Kingwood Christian School.  The assistant football coach talked me into turning in my application.
I have now subbed for high school PE twice and elementary PE once.
It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be.

Sneak Peek

I've been wanting to get the challenge quilt marked and pinned for quilting before I posted pictures.  It is 173 inches around the perimeter and I had to stay under 200 inches.  So far it is turning out ok.  The lines for the hot air balloon and the kite string aren't on yet but those will be done in bead work once I get it quilted.
This is the backing.  It is scrap fabric.
The middle fabric was a purchase I made in South Carolina while we were at Brian's family reunion last summer.  I thought it was fitting to use crayon fabric on the Crayon Challenge.

Friendly Frog

It looks like I'm squishing him but I'm holding him very gently.
