Tile Progress

We have had a little internet service disruption at the house.  We share internet with a neighbor and her internet line was cut by the water company on Tuesday morning so I'm behind on posting.  Here is everything since Tuesday that has been done.

So Monday night we grouted and...Tuesday morning we got up and I did not like the grout color as I had expected the night before when I saw the grout drying on the tile.
The grout turned out a little to gray for my liking.
So we stained it a mocha color...it turned out much better.

After the extra stain has been taken off.  The grout was sealed Wednesday morning.

The pictures below are what we did Wednesday night after I got home from practice.  I started around 6 putting the trim back on and I had the stove, freezer, pantry cabinet, and the pantry goods put away before Brian got home at 8:30pm.  I had also managed to cook dinner and it was ready and waiting when he got there.  Once dinner was over we put the sink and toilet back in the bathroom, reset the dishwasher, put the bathroom and pantry doors back on, and organized all the little stuff that was laying around.

I'm very happy with how all this has turned out.

 Pictures in the daylight.
Old vs. New. The tile has a richer textured look to it.
We are done with phase 1 of the project.  All that is left on this side is to touch up paint the base board trim.  And the best part of it all is Brian and I are getting to do this together and are still speaking to each other.

First Round of Grouting Has Begun

We used a grout bag which helped a lot.  It works the same way an icing bag works for icing a cake.
So we decided on a color called Sahara Beige and I'm not sure I like it yet.  I guess I'll know whether I like it in the morning once it has dried.  I have already looked into grout stain and it does exist, so if I don't like it I will be staining it a mocha color.

Flooring Progress

We were able to reach our goal for the day.  Our goal was to get the stove and dishwasher spaces (as well as all the space in between them) laid today.  We did today's progress in two segments.  After I got off work at the YMCA at 1pm we went home and laid tile until 2:45pm.  At that time we had to get ready for a work fundraiser dinner.

From 1:30ish to 2:45pm we were able to get done the section directly in front of the sink
and the stove space.

This is take tonight after the fundraiser dinner.  Brian was bored while I was spreading thinset.

This is where we stopped for the night.  We managed to get everything laid that we wanted to for today.

The next step now is to grout what we have done.  This will allow us to move everything back where it goes and then we can pull the frig out and place it on the finished tile.  The hardest decision of all is what color grout to use.  We have decided to go with a darker grout to help hide any stains.  We are stuck between these 3 grout colors.

Sahara Beige (which I have already bought to use but can return)

Bahama Beige

This one is mocha and I think I might like this one better than the Sahara Beige .

Day 3 of Kitchen Flooring Remodel

We have started the installation process!  This morning we were all set and ready to start around 9am.

 First tile of many!
 The tile saw expert.
Setting the last tile in the bathroom!

 Brian and our little Helper.
This is what napping on the job looks like.

If you look at the thinset I have spread on the floor you will see three tiny Gus paw prints...he thought he would help me set tiles.
Getting close to finishing the hallway area.

This is where we have stopped for the day.  We have finished tiling the bath, pantry, and hallway.  We have also pulled out the stove and dishwasher to remove the linoleum.  Tomorrow we will attempt to get down tile further into the kitchen and maybe under the stove and dishwasher.
