This past weekend I ran the Thru the Woods (Trail Run) Half-Marathon held at Stony Creek Metro Park in Shelby Township (MI). The weather was GORGEOUS for the 13.1 mile run. Brian and I drove in the early Saturday morning (5:30am), registration opened at 7:00am, for an 8am race start.
The course was marked with three color flags, designating the three races being run today (5 mi, 10 mi, and half-marathon). The Pink markers were for the half-marathon.
Brian taking a picture of me passing at mile .5. 12.6 miles to go.
About to cross the finish line. 13.09999999 miles down, 0.00000001
13.1 miles done in done in 3 hour and 18 minutes. Considering all of the hills (all of the half-marathons I have run and trained for have all been fairly flat ground), and considering this is my first trail run, I think I did pretty good.
A wooden medal for completing the half-marathon. Brians' parents and Darryl came to the race and watched me cross the finish line. Thank you all for your support.
This marks my first trail run, and my fourth half-marathon. While I am looking for another in July, I am currently registered for Panda Bear Night Run (Alma, MI) in August, the Rock n' Roll in St. Louis (MO) and the Hallowed Half Marathon and Frightening 5k (Leslie, MI) in October. More updates to come.
